Winning Attitude!

This poem is inspired by the volleyball match that I watch these days.

The court is all set for the match to begin
The teams have assembled, each aiming to win

Loud blows the whistle and the game has begun
Up goes the ball and the players are in action

Hands in the air and feet on the ground
To boost up the spirits are cheers all around

Eyes on the net, waiting to spike the ball
Strategies are flowing for the opponents to fall

Aggression,anger,scream nor hostility is valued
All that is required is a winning attitude

A winner never quits and a quitter never wins
Fight till the end and the victory grins!

Realities of life

I used to think
Happiness doubles if its shared
But the reality is
When I am really elated
There aren't enough people to share

I used to think
I will get whatever is mine
But the reality is
I always need to beg for
Everything that I rightfully deserve

I used to think
I need courage to speak the truth
But the reality is
I need even more courage
To accept the truth

I used to think
I can smile only when I'm happy
But the reality is
Broader is the smile
Deeper maybe the wound inside

I used to think
Relations can live on forever
But the reality is
Every relationship in life
Has an expiry date

I used to think
I can make my own destiny
But the reality is
My destiny is controlled
By the Supreme power up above.

Perseverance

When happiness seems far from sight
Long is the darkness and no sunrise
Here is the time for you to realise
Everything in life has its price

When the situations seem to hurt
Be bold yet modest in your pain
For no one ever had the rainbow
Until he had the shower of rain

When people around are not friendly
Be not blanched by their scorns
Even the rose does not lose its beauty
Being surrounded with many thorns

When the results are not encouraging
Let it not your determination hinder
Never is success counted sweetest
Without having the taste of failure

The path of life is full of obstacles
Let not your strength be weakened
Perseverance comes from a strong will
He who endures wins in the end!!

My new Asset :)

After being dormant for quite a long time, I am back again :) Back again to a different land away from my motherland. I landed in Fortworth, US two weeks back. This trip seemed quite different from my previous one in Stamford. There everything was settled in terms of accomodation. Here it took two weeks for me to settle down in my new appartment and furnish it with basic necessities.

Yesterday I got my new laptop and internet connection at home. I can call this as one of my most valuable asset for this year :) We have got so accustomed to a life with computer and internet that I felt crippled without one at my home. Almost no contact with my relatives and friends who are far off created a void in my life. But now I am pleased about being able to get rid of this emptiness!!!

At present this is the most important reason for my happy weekend:)

A pocket full of desires

As another New Year begins, these are my desires which I hope this year would help me fulfill.

Here we have another new beginning
Another chance to own whatever is missing
My pocket full of desires I hereby open
For desires are must to keep life in motion.

To adorn my library with few more books
And give my writings even better looks
Reading and writing being my passion
I yearn to plunge deeper in this ocean.

Music in the evening to be heard from far
I wish to master the strings of guitar
To tap my feet to the tunes of a disc
And to enter dublin without any risk.

A month to be spent in the land of disney
Shake hands again with mickey and minnie
And fly to my friends far from my strand
Though not too long away from motherland.

A desire for a year devoid of emptiness
More of happiness and less of loneliness
A year where share and care is ample
To give a little love and to get a little!!
